It's also April Fool's Day, so I thought today would be a good day to read a poem that's pretty foolish. One of my favorite foolish poems is "You Are Old, Father William," by Lewis A. Carroll. It's from his classic book, Alice In Wonderland, which is another favorite book of mine. It has lots of famous poems - many of which are total nonsense - and would make a great read-aloud. Hmmm, perhaps I should add it to my list of padlet read-alouds? Anyway, this poem is silly, definitely NOT to be taken seriously, and I hope you like it!

If you'd like to explore more nonsense poetry, try almost anything by Roald Dahl, Jack Prelutzky, Edward Lear, and Shel Silverstein. Who's your favorite nonsense poet?
