Today is the 50th anniversary of Earth Day! Learn about the honeybee in the google doodle game I've linked to on the left. I'm also including links to some Discovery Education resources to help you learn about our planet. Follow this link if you're in K-2 (You may have to log onto clever.com first and find the Discovery Education app. Ask your parents for help; they can email me if they need assistance.) Watch and listen to the music video and then see if you can name the 5 oceans of the earth. Do you know how much of the globe is covered by water? I hope this song helps remind you why it's so important to keep our earth clean!

If you're in 3-5, try this link. (You may have to log into clever.com and go to the DiscoveryEd app first.) Watch this video to learn about the major players in the Earth Day movement - from its founding in 1970 to now. You might be surprised that the coordinator of the very first Earth Day was a student! Or maybe you'll learn to cook with solar power! Once you're finished, I hope you'll remember the 3 R's: Reduce! Reuse! Recycle! (Bonus points: do you know what the 4th R could stand for?)
