Did you know it's School Library Month and National Library Week?! And right now, there's a contest for all K-5 school students who appreciate their school librarian - the I Love My Library Media Specialist Poster Contest! If you and your students love your school library and librarian 😁, you may want to enter this contest. (Plus, there are cash prizes!) Here are the details:
Elementary Level Poster Contest: Mann students are encouraged to participate by creating posters/signs using materials found in the home. They can use notebook paper, cardboard box material, crayons, markers, paint etc. Parents are encouraged to take a picture and submit their child's entry via email to me at deborah.hensley@k12.dc.gov and to DCPSLibrarians@gmail.com. $500.00 in gift cards will be awarded!
The last day to submit posters/essays for consideration is May 1st. Winners will be announced on Wednesday, May 6th. Many thanks to the Washington Teachers Union and EveryLibrary for their generosity and advocacy! I hope to see some Centaurs represented!
If you have any questions about the contest, please free to contact DC Public School Librarians at DCPSLibrarians@gmail.com.
(For any 6th-12th grade sibs who might be reading, there's a contest for you, too - the I Love My Library Media Specialist Essay Contest. Here are the details for that one:
DCPS Middle/High School Level Essay Contest: Students are encouraged to participate by submitting a 300 word essay neatly handwritten or typed (cell phone/tablet/laptop computers). Parents are encouraged to take a picture and submit their child's entry via email to their school librarian (not me, sorry!) and to DCPSLibrarians@gmail.com. $500.00 in gift cards will be awarded! Good luck to you too!)
